What is Lawn Aeration?
The main purpose of aeration is to improve air flow to your lawn and the soil underneath. During the aeration process, the soil is punctured with small holes that allow air and water to reach the grass roots. This process helps your grass to grow deeper roots, which produces a stronger and healthier lawn.
When Should You Aerate?
You want to aerate the lawn when your grass is in its peak growing period so it can recover quickly—think early spring or fall for cool-season grasses. If you have high-traffic areas or compact soil, you will want to aerate spring and fall until your lawn has stabilized growth.
Overseeding
Everyone wants a thick and healthy lawn. Overseeding is the practice of adding new grass seed to a lawn. Spring and fall are usually the best times to plant grass seed since soil and air temperatures are warm and natural rainfall is common. Overseeding is recommended annually for every lawn.
